Dancing at El Squid Roe
a long time Cabo favorite
One of the best things about a vacation is staying up late . . . as late as you like. In Los Cabos, the region that includes Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor, the nightlife is lively, so you may be awake a lot longer than you thought. Here, hedonism and good fun abounds and variety is the name of the game. For those who like to party, Cabo San Lucas has some kind of nightlife entertainment for everyone. A visit to Cabo Wabo Cantina, The Giggling Marlin Bar & Grille, Hard Rock Cafe, and El Squid Roe is a must for your Cabo party vacation. The latest additions to the nightclub scene are Body Shot Night Club in Puerto Paraiso Plaza and Crazy Iguana Restaraurant and Bar in downtown Cabo. More Cabo San Lucas Bars.

Sancho Panza Wine Bistro and Nightclub has live jazz most nights and is a good spot for dancing and great wine after an excellent dinner. Down the road in San Jose del Cabo, the mood may be less rowdy but there's still plenty of good times to be had.

The night starts with sunset and for some, it's the most magical time. While sunsets may be viewed from any number of bars and restaurants in Cabo San Lucas, for die hards, western facing vantage points are a must. Hotel Solmar Suites and Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa all on the Pacific, have casual oceanfront bars with snacks and wandering Mariachis playing lively Mexican tunes. Here, it feels like the edge of the world, as the tangerine sun sizzles into the liquid Pacific.

Cabo San Lucas's own Icon, El Squid Roe, is now three stories of pulsating energy and more crowded than ever. Some nights, making your way from the entrance to the top floor restrooms can take forever. On the way, anything is bound to happen. Waiters equipped with spray tanks of tequila ply their way through the throngs while table-dancing patrons get lost in the loud dance beat. The open-air dance floor, on the main level, is surrounded by hoards of onlookers three levels high. Located across from Hard Rock Café, this is one place where the waiters definitely deserve danger pay. A voyeur's heaven and totally outrageous, but take note, the Squid is definitely not for the prudish or the faint of heart. Dinner served until 11pm. The Giggling Marlin Bar & Grille
Located on Boulevard Marina across from Pizza Hut, is the legendary Giggling Marlin. One of the first bars in Cabo San Lucas catering to tourists, it's a devilish mix of dirty dancing style floor shows and very potent margaritas. The show starts around 9 p.m. It's a must-see for first-time Cabo party-goers. Women are forewarned: not only will they have you doing the Lambada...they'll put it on video. The Giggling Marlin is even more famous for their fish scale, where unsuspecting guests are strung upside down and photographed...solo or in pairs. Tasty Mexican food is available in abundance, and service is reasonably good, considering the crowds. Blvd. Marina & Matamoros, Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Phone: 143-1182, Office: 143-0606. Latitude 22+ Roadhouse Restaurant & Bar
Latitude 22+ seems old enough to have hosted Steinbeck himself, what with the vast amount of weathered fishing memorabilia hanging about. Truth be told, it's been around more than a decade and is also the HQ of the Pete Lopiccola Charity Fishing Tournament tirelessly promoted by owner and local good guy Mike Grzanich. This is a casual joint to say the least, nothing pretentious, an affordable local hangout with consistently good belly-warming food. The walls reek of atmosphere; you won't find this type of restaurant bar anywhere else in Los Cabos. The long, nautical plank bar buzzes with conversation and sports TV's, while the dining room is packed with diners chowing down on Croatian slow-roasted Prime Rib, Philly Cheese Steak, Chicken Fried Steak and other tasty plates.
